Overview

REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production.  Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, we have 16 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.  We convert aluminum scrap and by-products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. We are ideally positioned to respond to the needs of an increasingly recycling-conscious world. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill.

Responsibilities

REAL ALLOY Corporate Counsel

We are seeking a business-minded Corporate Counsel to provide practical, strategic legal support across a broad range of commercial, regulatory, and operational matters. This role is ideal for an attorney with in-house legal experience who understands how to balance legal risk with business objectives and enjoys working closely with cross-functional teams to drive sound business decisions.

As a trusted advisor to the organization, our Corporate Counsel will partner with Procurement, Logistics, Operations, Human Resources, and other business leaders on a variety of legal matters, including commercial agreements, vendor relationships, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and risk management. The role will support a diverse range of agreements related to engineering, manufacturing, equipment, and other operational and supply chain needs.

Beyond providing legal guidance, this individual will take ownership of legal compliance training, communicate recommendations clearly and independently, and help business partners navigate complex issues with practical, solutions-oriented advice.

This is a commercially focused, mid-level in-house counsel role, rather than a traditional general counsel or highly specialized regulatory position.  We are looking for someone who is comfortable working autonomously, builds strong relationships across the organization, and approaches legal matters with a commercial mindset. The successful candidate will be more than a legal resource — they will be an engaged business partner who helps the organization manage risk, improve processes, and achieve its objectives.

As our new Corporate Counsel, you will establish credibility as a trusted business partner, provide timely and actionable legal guidance, and help stakeholders make informed decisions with an appropriate understanding of risk. Bring your proactive approach to contracting and compliance, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and enable the business to move forward confidently while protecting the organization’s interests.

If you are a practical, independent, and comfortable working across manufacturing and operational functions, join us in a role where legal expertise, commercial thinking, and business partnership come together to make a meaningful impact.

This position follows a hybrid work model, with three days per week in our Beachwood, Ohio office and two days remote.

Qualifications

Corporate Legal Counsel

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license and good standing with a U.S. state bar with Ohio admission.
  • Approximately 4–8 years of relevant legal experience, ideally including in-house corporate counsel experience. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Experience supporting procurement, manufacturing, engineering, logistics, supply chain, or other operational business functions strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of commercial legal issues, regulatory compliance, risk management, and dispute resolution.
  • Experience developing or delivering legal or compliance training preferred.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts in clear, business-friendly terms.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced business environment.
  • A collaborative, practical, and solutions-oriented approach to legal support.
