REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production.  We have 17 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.  We convert aluminum scrap and by-products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill.  This position is located in MISSISSAUGA, CANADA.

We’re looking for a Receiving and Processing Supervisor to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This role offers the opportunity to lead cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and make a measurable impact on our production performance.

 

The Receiving and Processing Supervisor will provide overall direction and leadership to the receiving and processing functions. Key responsibilities include leading team-based safety initiatives, implementing continuous improvement strategies, ensuring adherence to raw material processing schedules, maintaining workplace cleanliness, and developing effective staffing plans.

 

Key Tasks 

  • Foster and lead a safety-first culture by ensuring all employees, contractors, and visitors in the Receiving and Processing department consistently adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Review material types and quantities needed to ensure an appropriate supply of processed raw materials are available to meet production targets.
  • Ensure a processing schedule for dryer and crusher aligns with production targets.
  • Review inspection reports and runtime feedback from all shifts, ensuring that any identified maintenance concerns are accurately documented and submitted into the Maintenance Workorder Processing System (MVP) for timely resolution.
  • Develop, implement, and manage continuous improvement programs within the Receiving and Processing Department.
  • Collaborate with the Metals Trader to ensure that raw material inventory is sufficient for the Production Department to meet production targets.
  • Ensure all incoming material is properly classified and weighed prior to storage, with accurate documentation reflected in receiving reports.
  • Maintain and control processed and unprocessed raw material inventory by monitoring inventory records, performing routine cycle counts, and conducting quarterly physical inventory counts to ensure data integrity.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading multiple teams across three shifts.
  • Provide training and development for lead hands in alignment with company policies and applicable legislation, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment that supports employee engagement and growth.
  • Employee training and development, workforce planning and task delegation, performance evaluation, administering disciplinary actions when necessary, and effectively addressing employee concerns to foster a productive and respectful work environment.
  • Collaborate with neighbouring department managers to ensure the efficient flow of material through the production process.
  • Ensure processes and procedures align with company policies, quality policies and ISO 9001 requirements.
  • Sets goals and objectives for the Receiving and Processing Teams.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in the metal foundry or manufacturing industry.
  • Some post-secondary education or relevant combination of related education and experience.
  • Two years’ experience leading a team.
  • General knowledge of quality systems and ISO 9001.
  • Experience in leading continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Possess general knowledge and proficiency in general business and the ability to use computer applications, such as spreadsheets, word processing documents, databases, and email programs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to plan and organize effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to work varied hours, be on call and travel occasionally.
  • Able to apply creativity and innovation for the implementation of new programs and employee involvement.
  • Able to effectively multitask multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Results and detail oriented.
