Overview

REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production.  We have 17 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.  We convert aluminum scrap and by-products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. We are ideally positioned to respond to the needs of an increasingly recycling-conscious world. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill.  This position is located in MISSISSAUGA, CANADA.

We’re looking for a Production Manager to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This role offers the opportunity to lead cross-functional teams, drive continuous improvement, and make a measurable impact on our production performance.

 

Key Tasks:

 

  • Drive and foster a safety-first culture by leading in all safety-related programs and training. 
  • Partners with fellow management team members to establish cost control strategies and gather comprehensive data on product types, quantities, specifications, and delivery timelines.
  • Implement new and/or revised operational procedures.
  • Plans and directs blending, production activities and establishes priorities regarding equipment downtime/failures for blend optimization.
  • Coordinate with the Shipping and Receiving Teams to ensure material flows smoothly in and out of the facility.
  • Verify raw material, finished goods and production supplies inventory levels.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Team regarding any new equipment installations, repairs and preventative maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize OEE.
  • Effectively collaborate with other departments to foster a team environment.
  • Monitor environmental exposure thresholds and maintain proactive communication with the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Team to ensure full compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Compile, store, retrieve, analyze and verify production data daily.
  • Ensure the Production Department Teams complete their activities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Participate in employee recruitment, train employees, plan work tasks, delegate work, manage performance, foster engagement, issue discipline, and address concerns.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum five years in a manufacturing operations role with three years managerial experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to plan and organize effectively and efficiently.
  • Results and detail oriented.
  • Ability to work varied hours, be on call and travel occasionally.
  • Possess general knowledge and proficiency in general business and the ability to use computer applications, such as spreadsheets, word processing documents, databases, and email programs.
  • Able to apply creativity and innovation for the implementation of new programs and employee involvement.
  • Able to effectively multitask multiple projects and deadlines.
