Overview

REAL ALLOY is the market leader in third-party aluminum recycling and specification alloy production.  Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, we have 17 plants strategically located across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.  We convert aluminum scrap and by-products into reusable aluminum metal for a growing number of applications across various industries. Advanced technologies enable us to process a large variety of scrap and dross and reduce the amount of residual waste from aluminum manufacturing that would otherwise end up as landfill.

This is a PAID Environmental, Healthy, and Safety internship/co-op is based out of our Wabash, IN facility.   We are open to the right Intern and extension with the right candidate.  Candidate must be willing to work from the Wabash, IN location. 

 

 *** This role is for Junior/Senior level college students or students pursuing their Masters Degree. This is an immediate opening and the intern could start right away. ***

 

Development/Project Task

Projects Tasks:

    • Identify the programs of the Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems
    • Identify and analyze the context of the organization 
    • Understand the scope of the OHS Management system
    • Maintain on-the-job training records
    • Participate in weekly/monthly safety meetings.
    • Assist with training the workforce to comply with organizational policies and participate in the OHS Management process
    • Identify and evaluate risks and opportunities
    • Assist with updating the OHS Policies and establish objectives
    • Effectively communicate with management to gain endorsement for OHS efforts
    • Participate in weekly/monthly safety meetings
    • Collect and analyze potentially hazardous materials
    • Audit and maintain emergency preparedness and response plans
    • Conduct audits. 

 

Intern must be able to work 25-40 hours per week.

 

Salary Range- $20-$25 per hour 

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a BS/MS in Environmental, Safety, or Health Science 
  • Overall GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Ability to understand basic Environmental, Health, & Safety regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 
  • Familiarity with data collection, analysis, and presentation
