Responsibilities

Mechanic- Full-time position in Mississauga

$30.19 Per Hour

The hours of work for this position are 7:00am- 3:00 pm and this person should be available for on call support as needed during these shifts.

3:00 pm- 11:00 pm- Afternoon shift

11:00pm- 7:00 am- Night shift

 

Purpose of Role

Performs maintenance and repairs on mobile equipment at the Mississauga Facility.

 
Responsibilities
  • Comply with all safety standards and regulations.
  • Repairs and maintains engines in mobile equipment using precision measuring instruments and machine tools.
  • Identifies parts for replacement and equipment that need new parts and places orders as necessary.
  • Reconditions and replaces parts such as pistons, bearings, gears, valves, and bushings.
  • Keep necessary records and logs such as Maintenance work orders, calibration and calculation records.
  • Notify appropriate personnel of irregularities in equipment or materials; maintain clean and orderly conditions in shop and work areas.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Conduct regularly scheduled maintenance

 

Qualifications

 

Requirements Include

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience in the heavy equipment industry, diesel engine experience and hydraulics required
  • Ability to perform complete Preventative Maintenance Functions unassisted
  • Basic welding techniques
  • Strong hydraulic and electrical diagnosis experience preferred

Employee needs to have the required job skills and knowledge and exhibit the ability to learn and apply new skills.  Employee must meet productivity standards by completing work in a timely manner requiring minimal supervision.  Employee must strive to achieve established goals and objectives.  

 

Physical Demands of the Position

Visual demands include locating problem areas in mechanical repair, operating equipment and vehicles, observing surrounding traffic and employee location.  Hearing demands require employee to be able to hear safety alarms.  Employee will spend at least 75% of each shift standing or walking. 

Shift is 8 work hours per day.  Some overtime hours can be expected. Weekend work may be required, and employee may be required to be “on call.”
Work will include climbing onto equipment, standing on equipment and dismounting from equipment. Work may include working at heights for prolonged periods of time.  Employee may also be required to perform work in closed working conditions.  Work requires a great deal of body movement such as twisting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching above shoulders and turning of torso. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to climb and work at heights for extended periods of time.

 

Work Environment

The work environment will consist of the employee frequently working on and/or near moving machinery and equipment, moving mechanical parts, and operating mobile equipment.
